Third Party Events

The Jean Tweed Centre relies on the generous support of our community. Your kindness is what makes a difference in the lives of women and their families.

Thinking about holding a fundraiser to benefit the Jean Tweed Centre? No event is too big or too small. There are so many ways to help – hold a book sale, a bake sale, a giving party, a golf tournament, a silent auction – the list is endless. Bring together your friends, family, co-workers and individuals from the community to support the event.

We would be pleased to offer guidance in ensuring the success of your event.

For more information and to receive a Third Party Fundraising Package, contact  Andrea Peca, Philanthropy & Volunteer Manager at

Mining for a Heart of Gold
invited Canada's most influential mining and junior resource stakeholders to play a leadership role in celebrating and supporting the Jean Tweed Centre on November 4, 2010.

Mining for a Heart of Gold raised more than $45,000.00 in support of
the women and families of the Jean Tweed Centre.

The 2010 gala event took place at the Strathcona Hotel in Toronto and featured
critically-acclaimed bands such as Candice Chantrell and Canteen Knockout.

The mining and resource industry has always had a heart of gold and on November 4,
they proved it as hundreds of the industry’s top stakeholders drilled down and offered
a hand up to the courageous, "heart-of-gold women" of the Jean Tweed Centre.

The Jean Tweed Centre thanks Porritt Real Estate for the beautiful baskets contributed to the women of JTC during their Annual Basket Drive.

THANK YOU!

Documentary: Recovering love  Mothers, their Families, Drugs and Alcohol

This documentary by Skyworks Charitable Foundation peels away the layers of prejudice and punishment that confront women - especially mothers - who are dealing with substance abuse. This documentary shows the impact of that condemnation, and also looks deeper into the systematic issues that lead to substance abuse in the first place, including trauma and abuse, racism and discrimination.

The Jean Tweed Centre introduces the Pathways to Healthy Families Program, where we meet two young mothers, Annie and Grace, who have fought with love and tenacity to reclaim their children. Both women speak to the enormous difference that the support of the counselors, advocates and parenting programs have made to their healing process and their opportunities to parent their children.

To purchase a DVD copy of Recovering love, contact andreapeca@jeantweed.com or call Andrea Peca at 416-255-7359 ext 245.
